Max Holloway Sends Classy Message To Frankie Edgar

At UFC 240, Max Holloway defended his featherweight title when he faced perennial title contender Frankie Edgar. Holloway once again proved that he is without a doubt the best featherweight contender on the planet, easily out-pointing Frankie. Towards the end of the night, it was Holloway that walked out of the Octagon with a smile on his face. Frankie Edgar, however, once again fell short when it came to a title contest.

Edgar is undoubtedly a legend in the sport, and a future UFC Hall of Famer. Holloway had nothing but respect for Frankie before and after their fight. However, the Hawaiian took to social media after his win, and paid tribute to Edgar for paving way to a generation of other fighters.

“The GOAT talk always makes me cringe”, Holloway wrote. “Legends can coexist. Frankie was gonna win no matter what last night because I am part Frankie. I am who I am as a father and martial artist because of some of the things I’ve learned from Frankie and coach Mark Henry. Proud to be Hawaiian, proud to be honorary Canadian. But if you know this sport the way us fighters know it, every champ reps a little bit of Jersey whether they like it or not because of these two legends.”

Edgar’s last win in the UFC came against Cub Swanson in April last year. The loss would also mean that Alexander Volkanovski is now a favourite to face Max Holloway next for the strap.
