McGregor: Khabib Rematch Would Be Even Easier Than Poirier One

We are just a few days away from UFC 257, and Conor McGregor is already oozing with confidence.

McGregor is set to face Dustin Poirier in the main event in a highly anticipated rematch. The two battled each other for the first time at UFC 178 in 2014, with the Irishman making light work of his opponent.

When they meet each other again this weekend, McGregor ‘guarantees’ that things are going to be ‘easy’ for him. However, if he ever faces reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a rematch, he claims it will be even easier.

Poirier And Khabib Rematches

Speaking with TSN‘s Aaron Bronsteter (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), McGregor talked about his rematch with Poirier, and potential opponents down the road.

“I’ll tell you what, this will be an easy rematch for me this Sunday, but it won’t be my easiest rematch. When I get that rematch against Khabib, it will be an easy rematch, and I guarantee this. If he wants to continue running, that is no problem I will eliminate the rest of them,” McGregor said. “Besides him who ran, it is Dustin. He has knocked out Justin [Gaethje], beat Dan Hooker, and [Michael] Chandler he is coming from a lower league and hasn’t been tested in the UFC so we will see.

“Justin has beaten Tony [Ferguson], I would say Dustin is right up there that is why I am excited about it, that is why you are going to see the levels and the difference of levels between myself and the top of the division. I am in space, I am not from here, that is where I am at. I’m on a different planet with my skillset and I look forward to showcasing it this Sunday morning in Abu Dhabi.”

McGregor is itching for a rematch with Khabib, who he was submitted by at UFC 229. If he defeats Poirier in an impressive fashion however, he might lure the Russian, who has told Dana White he wants to see something special, into fighting him again.
