Monster Energy Parts Ways With TJ Dillashaw

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw tested positive for EPO earlier this year, and has since received a two-year suspension, which will keep him out of action until early 2021. Dillashaw then relinquished the title, and UFC has since booked a fight between Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes, with the winner becoming the new UFC Bantamweight Champion.

After his suspension was announced, TJ Dillashaw owned up to his mistakes, and apologized to his fans. The MMA community hasn’t been too kind to the former champion, who lost to Henry Cejudo back in January at UFC Brooklyn.

Now it is being reported that Monster Energy, which had signed Dillashaw to a promotional deal back in December 2018, has decided to cut ties with the former champion.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported, “Monster Energy has parted ways with TJ Dillashaw, according to Monster’s Hans Molenkamp. The company signed him to a promotional deal in Dec. 2018. Dillashaw, the former UFC bantamweight champion, is currently serving a two-year suspension after he tested positive for EPO in Jan.”

Dillashaw was initially suspended for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission, but was handed a 2-year suspension by USADA. With the fighter now sitting out for at least two years, Monster Energy has decided to scrap its deal with the former champion.
