Polyana Viana Denies Fake ‘Arrest Warrant’ Story
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few days, you would have heard about the mugger in Rio de Janeiro, who tried to steal UFC fighter, Polyana Viana’s mobile phone. Needless to say, it didn’t end well for him. You can read all about it here.
However, as much as everyone loved this story, news started circulating the web that the 27 year old had an arrest warrant out under her name, for ‘excessive self-defence’.
The Brazilian strawweight took to Instagram though to address the ‘fake news’. (Transcript by South China Morning Post)
“I just finished training, my sparring for today. Many people ask me about the ‘bad’ news that was published on a website.
“It says I received an arrest warrant. I didn’t receive anything. The case is, I reacted to the assaul. I acted and defended myself within the law.
“I haven’t received anything, a warrant. I’m very focused, and later I hope to give you good news about my next fight. OK?
“I just want to clarify, this affair sucks a bit. It’s difficult to address this here, normally I always make jokes here, but the reality is no, it’s a very serious affair. Therefore, I came here to clarify. Thank you everyone for your love.”
We now know the good news about her next fight. She will fight Hannah Cifers at UFC 235, on March 2nd. I’m sure she will be hoping for no more extra training, outside of the gym, between now and then.
This story was one of three similar stories to come out over the last few days. You can read about the other two stories below.
