Rachael Ostovich Responds To Greg Hardy Controversy

The past couple of months have been tough for UFC flyweight Rachael Ostovich. The 125-pound competitor was the victim of domestic violence, which initially saw her being pulled from the January 19 card in Brooklyn. However, Ostovich, who suffered a fractured orbital bone, reaffirmed her interest to fight in January, which saw her being added once again to the card.

Rachael Ostovich, who will take on Paige VanZant, recently spoke to ESPN‘s Ariel Helwani about yet another fighter who will fight on the same card. Greg Hardy has received much attention, albeit for completely different reasons. Hardy, who himself was accused of — and later found guilty for — domestic abuse, will make his promotional debut on the same card.

“Nobody’s story is the same, nobody’s situation is the same. I have nothing to do with Greg Hardy. I’m just grateful to be fighting again.

“I believe in second chances. I’m glad he’s making a turnaround. I hope the same can happen to my husband and anyone else who has made a wrong choice.”

Ostovich further spoke fondly about the UFC and the backing she received in the aftermath of the incident.

“[White] was very caring and nice about it. I know he gets a lot of heat, but there’s no fishiness surrounding that thing. He was very concerned with my situation from the very beginning. He didn’t even want me to fight, actually. I had to convince and beg him to let me fight.”

Rachael said that her fight with PVZ will be the biggest fight of her career, and said that she wanted to compete no matter what.

“I had every reason to drop out, but this fight was so much bigger than just me and my problems. I want to be able to inspire and motivate others. Show people that you can do whatever you set your mindset to. We all go through problems. Everyone goes through struggles like me, and maybe even worse. You can do whatever you set your mind to.”
