Rashad Evans Says Fight With Logan Paul Is On The Table

Rashad Evans has announced his return to action. But while the former UFC light heavyweight champion isn’t ruling out a return to MMA, he has set his sights on a boxing showdown with Logan Paul.

Evans retired from MMA a few weeks after suffering a brutal knockout loss at the hands of Anthony Smith at UFC 225 in 2018. Since then, ‘Suga’ has been working as an analyst at ESPN. As well as helping out his teammates in the gym, including Greg Hardy. The 41 year old hinted at a return to action last year, but was waiting for the right time to make his move.

With Logan and Jake Paul taking the combat sports world by storm, Evans believes now is the perfect time to come out of retirement.

Logan Paul Boxing Match

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Evans said that he would love to lock horns with Logan in a celebrity boxing match, but is keeping his options open.

“We can be talking an MMA fight, but particularly speaking, I’m talking a boxing match right now,” Evans said. “I would love to do one of these boxing matches, one of these celebrity boxing matches, particularly with Logan Paul. I know that fight’s on the table, and it’s just a matter if Logan Paul wants to take it. I put my name in the hat, and we’ll see what happens. We’ll see if it’s a challenge he’s up for because at the end of the day, if he fights me, it’s gonna be a fight.

“All the respect to the great [Floyd] Mayweather, but Mayweather was just playing. He was playing around with him. He allowed Logan to look good, he allowed Logan to feel comfortable, but if Logan comes against me, Logan’s gonna have to do some work. And I’m not sure if he’s for that, but we’ll see. We’ll see if he accepts this fight and he’s down, then he’s a lot tougher than I thought. But if he don’t, the party goes on. I’ll find somebody else to dance with.”

“He’s Not A Real Fighter”

Evans has a great amount of respect for the Paul brothers for taking boxing seriously, but doesn’t think of them as ‘real fighters’. He still expects fireworks in a potential fight with Logan, however.

“There were talks with Roy Jones. There were talks with Logan Paul,” Evans said. “I don’t know what’s gonna happen with the Roy Jones situation, but the Logan Paul is one we were trying to get for September 18th. It all depends if it’s something he really wants to do or something he feels confident about doing because, at the end of the day, he’s not a real fighter. He doesn’t have the mentality of a fighter, so for him, he sees fighting for popularity.

“He’s young, he’s tough, he’s got some size. I feel like it’ll be competitive. I haven’t fought in a long time, and he’s been training, he’s been looking pretty good, so I think it’ll be a pretty good fight and something good for the fans, too.”
