Sean O’Malley No Longer Fighting On UFC 239 Card

‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley will no longer be fighting at UFC 239. The 24 year old was due to fight Marlon Vera on July 6th in Las Vegas but took to Instagram moments ago, to announce that he will no longer be on the card.

According to O’Malley, he has been notified by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that Ostarine, the substance that showed up in his system last year and led to USADA sanctions, has shown up again in two recent tests. Albeit, extremely low levels of the substance.

The unbeaten bantamweight said that he felt terrible for letting down his fans who were looking forward to watching him fight at UFC 239 but said that good news was that USADA have said that it is most likely residual from last year and too low a level to provide any performance advantage benefits.

As such ‘Suga’ stated that USADA won’t be re-sanctioning him for these latest test results. However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) have temporally suspended him, while they look into the situation.

O’Malley also reiterated the point that he has ‘never purposely taken any prohibited substance to gain an advantage’.

This case obviously sounds very similar to UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ issues over the last year with his ‘picograms’

We will bring you more on this story as we get it.
