Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier 3 In The Works

After losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226, Stipe Miocic had to wait thirteen months for a rematch, but finally got it at UFC 241. But it doesn’t look like ‘DC’ will have to wait as long for his chance to win the UFC heavyweight title back.

Speaking to Bar Stool Sports, UFC president Dana White confirmed that the trilogy fight between the two is in the works. Or at least will be, once Miocic has healed up from their second bout.

“Stipe is recovering from that fight. He’s got some bumps and bangs from that fight. We’re waiting for him to heal and then yeah, we’re going to do the trilogy,” Dana confirmed.

The first fight between the two didn’t reach the end of the first round, with Cormier ending the fight with a knockout, which ended Miocic’s six fight winning streak and run of three successful title defences, more than anyone has ever managed before in the UFC heavyweight division.

Unfortunately for Cormier, the rematch didn’t go the same way as their first encounter and it was Miocic who got his hand raised, after stopping ‘DC’ in the fourth round, and in doing so reclaimed the title of ‘the baddest man on the planet’.

Immediately after the fight, Cormier was undecided on his future and non-committal as to whether we would see him compete inside the Octagon again. The 40 year old is yet to confirm he intends to fight again but obviously he must have relayed a message to the UFC boss, that he’s going to fight on. For one more fight at least.

One man who won’t be happy with the trilogy fight is Francis Ngannou, who recently said he was willing and ready to exact his revenge on Miocic. It would appear that ‘The Predator’ will have to wait for his chance to avenge his loss to the champion at UFC 220 though, as the trilogy fight isn’t expected to go down until early in 2020.

Who do you think wins the trilogy between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier?
