The ‘King Of Cringe’ Calls Out Frankie Edgar And Valentina Shevchenko
It’s not easy being Henry Cejudo. Not only does he have a target on his back in two weight divisions in the UFC, but he also has the title of being the UFC’s ‘King of Cringe’ to protect. And although he may be recovering from shoulder surgery and unable to defend his UFC belts, Cejudo is doing a great job at ensuring that he remains the ‘King of Cringe’.
Over the weekend, the UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion posted videos (or public service announcements, as Cejudo calls them) to Frankie Edgar and Valentina Shevchenko. Firstly challenging Edgar to call him out at Madison Square Garden in November. And then calling out Shevchenko, fresh off her title defence at UFC Uruguay against Liz Carmouche, to become the first ever ‘inter gender champion’.
Of course, Cejudo is just having some fun with the callouts. The self proclaimed ‘King of Cringe’ has also playfully called out Amanda Nunes in the past.
Cejudo is out for the rest of 2019, as he recovers from surgery on his left shoulder, following his win over Marlon Moraes at UFC 238, where he won the UFC bantamweight title. UFC President Dana White, has said that when he returns from injury, his next fight will be defending his flyweight title against Joseph Benavidez.
