TJ Dillashaw Says 135 Lbs Division Needs Him Back

TJ Dillashaw lost to Henry Cejudo back in January in just 30 seconds, when the former bantamweight champion went down a weight class. T.J. was challenging Cejudo for the UFC Flyweight Championship. However, after the loss, Dillashaw tested positive for EPO, and was stripped of the bantamweight title.

Dillashaw has been suspended for two years, and will be eligible to compete once again in 2021. While the former champion has owned up to his mistakes, he recently said that the 135 lb division needs him.

Cejudo, who is the current two division champion, will likely defend his flyweight championship next. While T.J. also said that he and Cejudo have unfinished business, he has his sights set on capturing the title again.

“That bantamweight division needs me back”, TJ Dillashaw said to Helen Yee (h/t BJPENN.com). “They need the entertainment back and they need me to come back and throw some wrinkles in the weight class and create some tension.”

Dillashaw also made it clear that since he never lost the championship, and when he comes back, he deserves to fight for the title.

“Me. When I come back. That’s why they need me back, they need someone to cause some fire, cause some rift. That is my weight class, I had to give that belt up and fair enough, I understand”, TJ Dillashaw said. “I f****d up, and I had to relinquish it. But, I didn’t lose. That’s my belt, I’m still calling it my belt. I’m still the champion of the world. When I come back I will reclaim it.”
