Tony Ferguson Goes After Conor McGregor And Khabib

He may be going through some personal issues at the moment but Tony Ferguson still has his eyes on the prize. And it’s clear, the two guys he mainly sees in his way, is the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Conor McGregor.

Ferguson has been consistent in saying that he will only fight for the belt. Regularly going after the champ Khabib, on social media. So it’s no surprise that ‘El Cucuy’ isn’t very impressed with McGregor also going after the champion.

This week, McGregor has really stepped up the trash talking with Khabib, in the aim of getting the rematch he desperately wants. Many have said the Irish man has crossed the line, with his tweet about Khabib’s wife and religion. While some fans have been supporting him on social media. In case you missed his ‘tweet and delete’ earlier in the week, you can see them here.

And although the more McGregor and Khabib go back and forth, the more many fans will likely want to see a rematch, Ferguson is having none of it. In the last hour, the former UFC interim lightweight champion has told McGregor in no uncertain terms, that he’s stepping on his toes. Whilst also calling Khabib a coward.

The tweet was followed moments ago by one aimed specifically at Khabib, in typical Tony Ferguson style.

Today’s tweets follow several tweets aimed at McGregor and Khabib this week, in response to their war of words. Including these two. (We assume that Tony is a fan of the Adam Sandler movie ‘Happy Gilmor’!)

It is expected that Khabib will fight the winner of next week’s UFC lightweight interim fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, at UFC 236. There is speculation that this will go down in Abu Dhabi, in September.

It’s almost looking certain that McGregor will return to the Octagon, despite his recent retirement tweet. UFC President Dana White, is confident that they can sort things out, when they meet face to face in the coming weeks. His NSAC suspension comes to an end today.

The main thing right now, is for Tony to get 100% healthy. And if he can do that, I sure as hell would love to see Khabib vs Tony. Finally. As for McGregor, I personally would like to see the rematch. But not before he’s fought at least two more top contenders first. I’d really love to see Ferguson vs McGregor down the road.

How do you want to see things play out at the top of the UFC lightweight division?
