Tony Ferguson Not Happy With Fight Offer

Tony Ferguson has just taken to Twitter to say that he’s been offered a fight from the UFC. But in typical Tony Ferguson style, has expressed that he’s not happy with it.

The UFC lightweight division is in somewhat of a mess right now, especially with the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, appearing to stick to his guns of not fighting till November.

With the news that Georges St-Pierre is set to announce his retirement later today, Khabib tweeted the former double champion, asking for a fight in November at 155 or 160lbs. You can read about that here. It is doubtful that UFC president Dana White will give him a shot at the lightweight belt, after he walked away from the UFC middleweight belt after winning it from Michael Bisping. And a fight at 160lbs would hold up the division even more.

There has been speculation that Ferguson would fight Max Holloway for the UFC lightweight interim title but that is also unlikely because Holloway would have to jump the line ahead of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. And doesn’t appear to be the fight ‘El Cucuy’ has been offered, as according to his tweet, he’ll only entertain ‘Champ Shit’ only. It would be a fun one though.

‘Cowboy’ Cerrone also recently said that he would be fighting Conor McGregor for the interim title (you can read about that here) but again, this is unlikely, due to the fact that Ferguson, if not fighting Khabib next, has to fight for the interim title.

Poirier and Al Iaquinta are both are whiskers away from earning a title shot. And both of these are clearly unhappy with the current lightweight situation and threatening to leave the UFC. As you can read about here.

What would you like to see happen at the top of the UFC lightweight division?
