Tony Ferguson Responds To Dana White’s Comments On Dustin Poirier

Last week, Dustin Poirier revealed that his fight with Tony Ferguson had been scrapped. The two lightweight standouts were expected to meet in next month’s UFC 254 co-main event, which will be headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje fighting for the undisputed UFC lightweight title.

A few days ago, Poirier stated that “[The] UFC and I didn’t come to terms. I will not be fighting on October 24th.”

When asked about this at the UFC Vegas 10 post fight press conference, UFC president Dana White stated that the promotion were now looking for a new opponent for Ferguson.

“No, we’re not even trying to salvage it,” Dana said. “We’re getting another fight. Yep, [another fight for Ferguson], it’ll happen.”

In response, Ferguson has taken to social media to ask Dana to pay Poirier his asking price, to keep the fight alive.

“‘Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid’. Pay the man @danawhite @ufc Love ya’ll but let’s give the Hardcore & Casual fans what they deserve, a good fight Sir.”

Ferguson is looking to rebound from his loss to Gaethje at UFC 249 this past May, and get back in title contention. The loss ended ‘El Cucuy’s’ incredible twelve fight win streak inside the Octagon. Poirier meanwhile, bounced back from losing to Khabib a year ago at UFC 242, by beating Dan Hooker in a fight of the year contender at UFC Vegas 4.

Do you think Dana White and the UFC should pay Dustin Poirier what he thinks he deserves to fight Tony Ferguson?

UPDATE:

In the last couple of minutes, Poirier has responded to Ferguson’s tweet.
