Tony Ferguson Sends A Message To Khabib

Despite some problems outside of the UFC Octagon recently, Tony Ferguson never stopped posting to his fans on social media. In the last couple of weeks though, the former UFC interim lightweight champion has got even more vocal. Regularly calling out Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

In the last week, Ferguson has tweeted that he’s asked his management team (Paradigm Sports Management, which he shares with McGregor) to fight the Irish man, that he wanted the Max Holloway UFC interim lightweight title fight at UFC 236 and that the UFC offered him a fight last week. You can read about all of those tweets here and here.

Just moment ago though, ‘El Cucuy’ switched his attention back to Khabib, tweeting the lightweight champion’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, telling him to tell his client to “unblock him on Instagram and grow a pair”.

Abdelaziz has a unique relationship with most fighters, he trash talks more than Ben Askren and Dillon Danis combined, but he has an especially unique relationship with Ferguson. One minute he is telling him what a great fighter he is, the next, he is telling him he sucks.

Although things can change at any moment in the UFC, currently Khabib is expected to meet Dustin Poirier in September, in a unification bout. This leaves Tony, Conor and Justin Gaethje at the top of the lightweight division, looking for a shot at the title.

Al Iaquinta also faces ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in two weeks at UFC Ottawa, in a huge 155lbs matchup. I would take the winner of this fight, along with Ferguson, McGregor and Gaethje, and pair them off to make two mouthwatering title contender fights. You could pair them off any way you choose and you’ve still got two incredible fights.

And if you put these on the same card as Khabib vs Dustin, you also have the biggest night in the UFC lightweight history.
