This morning we reported that UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson’s wife Cristina, had files a restraining order against her husband. You can read more about that here.

The Orange County Superior Court has scheduled a domestic violence investigation for March 22nd and a domestic violence hearing for April 5th.

Cristina Ferguson’s lawyer, Jeffrey L. Heath, has now released a statement to ESPN, containing his client’s reasoning for the temporary restraining order.

“Tony Ferguson is a good husband and good father to our son. The current legal proceedings are a part of a process to ensure that Tony will receive the help necessary to continue being the best possible, as well as to pursue his passion and career as a UFC champion fighter. All positive well wishes are sincerely appreciated and I hope our privacy will be respected.”

As we said this morning, if Ferguson does indeed need help, we hope he gets the help he needs.
