Two Huge Bantamweight Bouts Set To Go Down At UFC 245

The UFC 245 card continues to get stronger and stronger. If having three title fights wasn’t enough, two of the biggest names in the sport over the last ten years have been added to the lineup. Former UFC featherweight king Jose Aldo, and former UFC bantamweight title challenger Urijah Faber are set to be added to the card.

ESPN has reported that Jose Aldo is set to face Marlon Moraes and Urijah Faber is set to face Petr Yan. Both bouts are set to go down in the bantamweight division.

In the last couple of hours, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has tweeted that Aldo vs Moraes is a done deal.

Aldo last fought at UFC 237 in Rio de Janeiro, where he lost a unanimous decision to Alex Volkanovski at featherweight. The loss ended a run of impressive finishes over Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano. UFC 245 will be Aldo’s 135lbs debut.

Moraes is coming off a loss to Henry Cejudo at UFC 238, fighting for the vacant bantamweight title. Prior to the loss to ‘Triple C’, the Brazilian had scored four wins in a row against top ranked bantamweights.

Okamoto has also reported that Faber vs Yan is close to be confirmed. ‘The California Kid’ returned from a three year retirement at UFC Sacramento in July and scored a first round knockout of Ricky Simon, in under one minute. Faber, the former WEC champion, has previously fought for the UFC 135lbs title four times in the past.

Yan has won all five fights he has had in the UFC and is coming off an impressive win over Jimmie Rivera at UFC 238. The five wins inside the Octagon have taken the Russian’s record to 13-1. ‘No Mercy’ trains out of Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand.

UFC 245 goes down at the T-Moblie Arena in Las Vegas, on December 14th. The stacked card will see Kamaru Usman defend his welterweight title against Colby Covington in the main event. Max Holloway is set to defend his featherweight title against Alex Volkanovski and Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie.
