Two Huge Bantamweight Clashes Are In The Works For UFC 238

The UFC is planning on putting on somewhat of a bantamweight masterclass at UFC 238. Having already confirmed that Marlon Moraes and the UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo, will compete for the vacant 135lbs title, the promotion plans on putting two more huge bantamweight clashes.

The UFC is targeting on adding Aljamain Sterling vs Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera vs Petr Yan to the card. Sterling and Munhoz were both hoping to get the call up for the vacant bantamweight title, before Moraes vs Cejudo was announced.

Although both these bouts haven’t been signed yet, ESPN have reported that they have both been verbally agreed.

Sterling and Munhoz are both on three fight win streaks. Both fighters also have almost identical records, 16-3 and 17-3. Sterling is coming off of a win over Rivera at UFC Phoenix in February, while Munhoz scored a knockout finish over the former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, at last month’s UFC 235.

Yan has look fantastic since joining the UFC last year, winning all four fights inside the Octagon. The Russian has lost only one of thirteen professional MMA fights. Although Rivera has lost two of his last three fights, he is still regarded as one of the best bantamweights in the world, with an overall 22-3 record.

UFC 238 goes down at the United Center in Chicago, on June 8th and will also see Valentina Shevchenko defend her women’s flyweight title against Jessica Eye.
