UFC 239 Gets Its First Fight As Luke Rockhold Moves Up To 205lbs

Luke Rockhold is set to make his light heavyweight debut at UFC 239. The former UFC middleweight champion is officially moving up to 205lbs, where he will meet the number ranked six ranked Jan Blachowicz.

Rockhold hasn’t fought in just over a year, when he was knocked out by Yoel Romero. He was set to rematch Chris Weidman at UFC 230 but was forced to pull out due to injury. The 34 year old has struggled with injuries the last couple of years and although he’s never missed weight, has stated that he would go through a strenuous weight cut every time he fought at 185lbs.

Blachowicz fought much more recently, losing to Thiago Santos last month. Before that third round TKO loss, the Polish fighter had won his previous four fights inside the Octagon.

UFC 239 is set to go down at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 6th, as part of the UFC International Fight Week.

How do you think Rockhold will get on in the light heavyweight division?
