UFC Brooklyn: Eventful Night Sees New Records Being Set

Last night at UFC Brooklyn, the flyweight champion Henry Cejudo made quick work of the bantamweight kingpin, TJ Dillashaw. Cejudo stopped Dillashaw in just 32 seconds in the first round, giving TJ the quickest loss of his professional career.

In the co-main event, the much-maligned and vilified Greg Hardy, who was making his UFC debut lost his fight by disqualification. Hardy landed an illegal knee on Allen Crowder, which resulted in Greg Hardy picking up his first loss in MMA.

More records were broken at UFC Brooklyn, which was also the first ever UFC card on ESPN+.

#1 Paige VanZant In Envious Company

Paige VanZant faced Rachael Ostovich at UFC Brooklyn, and won the fight in the second round with an armbar. This was also Paige’s first win inside the Octagon in nearly two-and-a-half years, with her last two fights ended in losses.

By beating Ostovich by armbar, PVZ also joined an exclusive list. VanZant became the only second UFC female fighter to win multiple fights via armbar submission, with the first being former UFC Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey!

#2 ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone Sets New UFC Record

Donald Cerrone defeated Alexander Hernandez by TKO in the second round last night. In doing so, Cerrone also set new UFC records for the most number of wins, most number of finishes and most number of bonuses in the organization!

Cerrone received the Performance of the Night bonus, as well as the Fight of the Night bonus. It was indeed a memorable night for ‘Cowboy’.

#3 Greg Hardy Only Third Heavyweight To Suffer DQ Loss

It wasn’t an easy debut for Greg Hardy, who was bombarded with questions about his domestic abuse incident that saw his NFL career ending prematurely. Hardy then took up MMA, and amassed a 3-0 record before facing Allen Crowder at UFC Brooklyn.

However, Hardy lost his composure and landed a knee to a downed opponent, resulting in a disqualification. With that, Greg Hardy now becomes only the third heavyweight in UFC history to suffer a disqualification loss!

#4 TJ Dillashaw’s Quickest Loss In MMA

In the main event, Dillashaw was stopped by Cejudo in just 32 seconds in the first round! This was also TJ’s fourth loss in twenty fights in his professional MMA career, and his second first-round loss.

TJ was last stopped by former flyweight contender John Dodson way back in 2011 in the first round. However, his loss to Cejudo at UFC Brooklyn was also Dillashaw’s quickest loss in MMA.
