UFC: Conor McGregor And Nate Diaz Continue To Trade Blows

Yesterday, news broke that Nate Diaz is set to return next month at UFC 262 against Leon Edwards. Not only did the fight announcement send shock waves through the MMA community, it also reignited the rivalry between the younger Diaz brother and Conor McGregor.

Not long after the shock announcement, McGregor took to social media to suggest the UFC make ‘The McGregor belt’. Something he first suggested at the UFC 196 pre-fight press conference five years ago.

While McGregor waits for his own belt, Diaz was given the opportunity to fight for the ‘BMF’ belt at UFC 244. Something that didn’t sit well with ‘The Notorious’.

When Diaz stepped up to fight McGregor at UFC 196 on eleven days’ notice after Rafael dos Anjos was forced out of his title defence against the Irishman, Nate made the point that he was partying on a yacht in Cabo when he got the call.

Tweeting from his luxury yacht in the UAE, McGregor mocked Diaz for his previous statement.

McGregor and Diaz then continued to argue over who is the real ‘Baddest Motherf***er’.

Diaz then went on to claim that Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov are scared of him, and referred to himself as ‘King Nate dog’.

A few hours later, Diaz returned to mock McGregor for wanting a belt on the line when he faces Poirier in a rubber match this summer. The 35 year old joked that the UFC could call the belt the ‘I get my ass beat then choked out every other fight’.

After being submitted by Diaz at UFC 196, McGregor went on to win the rematch via majority decision at UFC 202.

When Diaz fights Edwards at UFC 262, it will be the first time in the promotion’s history that a non-title co-main event will be a five rounder.

Do we need to see the Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz trilogy in 2021?
