UFC Florida: Salaries, Medical Suspensions And Appeals
UFC Florida marked the end of a triumphant week for Dana White and his team. The promotion’s long standing president promised fans three action packed events and his fighters truly delivered. Now that the Octagon door has closed in Florida for the final time this week, let’s take a look at the salaries and medical suspensions of those involved.
Alistair Overeem came out on top with a huge win over Walt ‘The Big Ticket’ Harris. Despite the emotional implications linked with the fight, Overeem remained professional and walked away with $400,000 for his efforts. In comparison, Harris took home $75,000 but was grateful towards Dana and the UFC for their assistance, following the tragic death of his step daughter Aniah Blanchard.
UFC Florida saw Overeem make his 18th appearance for the organisation and in a similar fashion to Andrei Arlovski, his huge salary proves that it pays to be loyal in the fight game.
Claudia Gadelha netted a cool $108,000 for her controversial split decision victory over Angela ‘Overkill’ Hill in the co-main slot. While middleweight gatekeeper Krzysztof Jotko matched Gadelha’s pay for his all-action win over Eryk Anders.

In other UFC Florida news, Edson Barboza try to launch an official appeal against his decision loss to Dan Ige during his 145lbs debut but the appeal was denied. Barboza’s manager Alex Davis, explained why to MMA Junkie.
“We wanted to come in front of them and analyse the fight and show them the decision was wrong. They can’t allow it because for that to happen, I would have to accuse the judges of fraud, or Ige of having taken [performance-enhancing drugs]. I have no suspicion of fraud, and I don’t think he takes PEDs. I think he’s a great fighter, and he fought really well. I can’t appeal because of that.”
