UFC: Jones And Adesanya Trade More Blows, Agree To Fight In 2021

A year and a half ago, Jon Jones respectfully stated in an interview that he would be excited to fight Israel Adesanya down the road. In response, ‘The Last Stylebender’ said that he had already downed one GOAT in Anderson Silva and that he would happily dethrone another, in ‘Bones’.

Jones didn’t take kindly to Adesanya’s comments and the two have been going back and forth in interviews, and on social media ever since. Despite the former UFC light heavyweight champion vacating his 205lbs title to move up to heavyweight, a fight between the two feels closer than ever.

Adesanya successfully defended his middleweight title this past weekend at UFC 253, stopping Paulo Costa in the second round. Despite his impressive performance, much of the talk after the fight evolved around the 31 year’s saggy right pectoral. Leading many to speculate the champion has been using PEDs. Including Jones.

A few days on from UFC 253, Jones took to social media to once again hit out at Adesanya.

Responding to fans, Jones made it clear that he believes Adesanya has been taking PEDs.

Jones then decided to bring family members into the bitter feud.

During this time, Adesanya had been occupied with Costa, having been throwing shade at the Brazilian at every opportunity he’s had since they fought last weekend. The Nigerian born Kiwi stated that he would get to Jones, however.

Almost twelve hours later, Adesanya finally responded to Jones’ taunts.

In 2015, Jones was involved in a hit and run incident, which saw him stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title. It’s a topic that Adesanya isn’t shy to bring up.

Jones’ mum passed away in 2017. And while he could have been offended with Adesanya bringing her up, the Albuquerque native took the opportunity to pay tribute to his mum.

A year ago, Adesanya predicted that he would fight Jones in 2021 at the newly built Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. While ‘Bones’ has often tried to push ‘The Last Stylebender’ in to fighting sooner, he now appears content with waiting until next year.

As the back-and-forth continues, neither man is showing any sign of easing off on the other.

UPDATE:

Adesanya has been very vocal on Twitter since we published this article earlier today.

There’s no sign of this particular back-and-forth between the two ending anytime soon. So we will update this post with every message sent by either man at the other.

Do you think we’ll see Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya settle their differences inside the UFC Octagon?
