UFC: Paulo Costa Reacts To Jon Jones’ Tweet And Delete

Jon Jones has been up to his ‘tweet and delete’ antics again. This time, posting private messages from Paulo Costa. The UFC light heavyweight champion only left the tweet up for a few minutes, before deleting it. But not before BJPenn.com‘s Chris Taylor managed to take a screenshot.

The private messages show Jones ask Costa to apologise for calling him out previously. Adding that he would reply to him publicly once the number one UFC middleweight contender reaches 100,000 followers on Twitter.

“Once you get 100,000 followers on Twitter I still start replying to you publicly. Why did you have to start with the insults man, the wasn’t very nice. You hurt my feelings. It’s not too late to apologize.”

The screenshot then shows Costa’s response, in which he said he didn’t mean to offend Jones.

“Hello Jon, if you felt bad I’m sorry. Was not my intention, really. I wish all the best to you sincerely. This is a humor page too, don’t take things here too seriously. But if you want I can delete it without any problems. As I said it is not the same sense to offend.”

When captioning the photo of the private messages, Jones referred Costa as a ‘bitch’.

“Lol this dude is a bitch, I was being sarcastic and he actually apologized.”

When asked about Jones’ ‘tweet and delete’ by a fan on Twitter, Costa stated that it was fake.

Costa then said he would fight Jones in 2021. If Jon is still alive!

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, has consistently said he wants to fight Jones in 2021 and has predicted that he will fight him at the Allegiant Stadium, which is currently being built in Las Vegas. Costa is set to challenge ‘The Last Stylebender’ this summer for the 185lbs title. So it would appear that both men have their sights set on facing ‘Bones’ next year.

Costa has previously stated that his goal is to win the UFC middleweight title, and then move up and win gold at light heavyweight.

Jones had a busy afternoon on Sunday. As well as his ‘tweet and delete aimed at Costa. He also had an interesting response to Mike Tyson, who respectfully called him out.

“Listen to this, UFC is more popular than boxing, right? Higher ratings, right?. But a UFC fighter will never be richer than a first-class fighter. To make a $100 million, Conor McGregor had to fight Floyd Mayweather. Jon Jones got to fight me if he wants to make some super money,” Tyson said of Jones to Essentially Sports.

What do think think about the Jon Jones vs Paulo Costa and Mike Tyson matchups?
