UFC Set To Go To Abu Dhabi And Uruguay In Upcoming Months

The UFC is set to visit Uruguay for the first time later this year and also return to Abu Dhabi.

MMA Fighting has reported that the UFC will hold an event in Montevideo, Uruguay on August 10th. Before returning to Abu Dhabi on September 7th, for a pay-per-view card.

Uruguay will join Brazil, Argentina and Chile as South American countries to host a UFC event.

The UFC’s visit to Abu Dhabi will be the third time the promotion has taken an event there but the first time in five years. The first two events there saw Anderson Silva defend his middleweight title against Demian Maia and BJ Penn lose his lightweight title to Frankie Edgar at UFC 112 in 2010, and then Roy Nelson knockout Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in the main event, in 2014.

It is expected that Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight title against the new interim champion Dustin Poirier, on the September card. Ahead of this weekend’s UFC Saint Petersburg, Islam Makachev said the deal was almost done deal.

It is also reported that the UFC will make its final stop in Brazil of 2019, on November 16th at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, in Sao Paulo.
