UFC Busan: Edgar One Of Six To Receive 180 Day Medical Suspension

UFC Busan Frankie Edgar

UFC Busan went down this past weekend, at the Sajik Arena, in Busan, South Korea. With last week’s UFC 245 being a contention for the card of the year, UFC Busan could easily have been a bit of an anti-climax. However, the first UFC event in South Korea since 2015, headlined by ‘The Korean Zombie’ vs Frankie Edgar, did not disappoint.

With five finishes and three split decisions, the last UFC card of the decade had a little bit of everything. The big story on the night was ‘The Korean Zombie’ finishing Edgar in the very first round of the main event.

‘The Korean Zombie’ scored a TKO win after 3:18, in which the damage Edgar suffered has seen him receive a medical suspension of 180 days. Despite revealing in the post fight press conference that he will need eye surgery to cure his double vision, ‘The Korean Zombie’ only received a suspension of only seven days.

Aleksandar Rakic, who lost a razor close split decision to Volkan Oezdemir in the UFC Busan co-main event, also received a 180 day suspension. As did ‘The Korean Superboy’, who broke his forearm in the first round of his loss to ‘Charles Jourdain.

Mike Rodriguez also received a 180 day suspension. As did Heili Alateng and Ryan Benoit, who fought out a close split decision in the first fight of the night, which went Alateng’s way.
