Al Iaquinta Reveals He Now Has ‘Good Working Relationship’ With UFC
“Raging” Al Iaquinta will face “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC Ottawa this weekend. Iaquinta was impressive against Khabib Nurmagomedov, when the two met last year, and “Raging Al” would want to once again throw his name into the hat, for a shot at the lightweight title, by beating Cerrone.
Things haven’t always been hunky-dory between Al Iaquinta and the UFC. However, the lightweight contender recently spoke about how things have changed, and that he and the UFC are on the same page.
“I’m definitely just happier I think in general”, Iaquinta told MMANews recently. “I’ve got a good rapport with Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby. I went out to the Performance Institute and got some great training out there. I met with those guys, my father came out and we had a nice dinner together.
“We understand each other a lot better now and I think they understand my gripes and I think they’re doing their best to make me happy. I know what they expect out of me and I’m doing my best to make them happy. It’s a good working relationship.”
Both Iaquinta and Donald Cerrone made weight earlier today, and will face each other in the main event of UFC Ottawa.
