Jorge Masvidal And Kamaru Usman Trade Blows Prior To UFC 251
We are just a few days away from the UFC welterweight championship fight between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251, and the two are using every opportunity to trade verbal blows before the they get locked inside the Octagon.
Masvidal started off the fight week by telling ESPN‘s Ariel Helwani that the thing he’s most happy about, is the fact he’s going to be paid to ‘break’ Usman’s face.
“I’m happy more than anything because I get to break this guy’s face and get paid for it.”
Coming in on one week’s notice, there has been concerns that Masvidal won’t be in perfect shape for his first official UFC title fight. ‘Gamebred’ however, assured fans that he’s in good enough shape to ‘baptise’ the champion on Fight Island.
”If you’re asking me, are you in shape? Maybe not to fight Ben Askren. I’m not in Ben Askren shape, because he’s a hell of a wrestler. Or even to fight a guy like Darren Till. But am I in shape for this bum I’m about to decapitate and baptise? Hell yeah.”
Masvidal went on to describe the way in which he sees the fight with Usman ending.
“Cold-blooded as can be. His body is grasping for air as I’ve got my hand raised over him,” Masvidal said. “I’m gonna baptise him, man, for the world to see. It’s gonna be violent.”
Many have wondered if Masvidal’s BMF belt will be on the line as well this weekend, but the UFC president Dana White has strongly dismissed this idea.
“That’s my (expletive), absolutely. They’re saying it’s a ‘BMF’ – they’re really considering this a real title, kind of an interim thing or whatever,” Usman said. “They’re really considering this a title. So you know, yes – after I go out there and beat his ass and ragdoll him, that (expletive) is coming home with me so I can throw it in my closet.”
