UFC Fight News: Including ‘Cowboy’, OSP, Hardy, Calvillo, Hill & Waterson

While the UFC community is gearing up for UFC 252 this weekend, there has been lots of fun matchups announced in the last day for the upcoming months. Including the return of ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

August:

Next week’s UFC Vegas 7 card has a new co-main event, after Yoel Romero was forced out of his middleweight clash with Uriah Hall. Ovince Saint Preux will return back down to light heavyweight to go up against Alonzo Menifield. OSP lost a split decision to Ben Rothwell in his heavyweight debut at UFC Jacksonville. While Menifield is coming off his first professional loss, against Devin Clark at UFC 250.

September:

Angela Hill and Michelle Waterson’s top 15 strawweight clash has been pushed back from next week’s UFC Vegas 7 card to September 12th. No reason has been given for the rescheduling.

Gerald Meerschaert vs Ed Herman looks set to be rebooked for September 12th. The two light heavyweights were originally scheduled to meet two weeks ago at UFC Vegas 5 but ‘GM3’ tested positive for the coronavirus on the day of the fight.

‘Cowboy’ and Niko Price are set to meet in a welterweight contest on September 19th. Cerrone will be looking to bounce back from a four fight losing streak. Albeit to four of the best, in Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor and Anthony Pettis. ‘The Hybrid’ will also be looking to get back to winning ways, after coming off a loss to Vicente Luque at UFC 249.

October:

Modestas Bukauskas and Jimmy Crute are set to throw down in a light heavyweight matchup on October 17th. ‘The Baltic Gladiator’ is fresh off his promotional debut win at UFC Fight Island 1, where he scored a first round TKO over Andreas Michailidis. While ‘The Brute’ recovered from his first professional loss, by submitting Micha? Oleksiejczuk in the first round at UFC Auckland in his last outing.

Cynthia Calvillo and Lauren Murphy have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 254 on October 24th, in what is sure to be a number one contender fight in the women’s flyweight division. The winner of the top five clash can expect to fight the winner of Valentina Shevchenko vs Jennifer Maia, which goes down at UFC 255.

Greg Hardy is set for his tenth fight in 16 months since making the transition from the NFL to MMA, with a heavyweight clash against Maurice Greene in the works for October 31st. ‘The Prince Of War’ is coming off a unanimous decision win over Yorgan De Castro at UFC 249. While the ‘The Crochet Boss’ is coming off a submission win over Gian Villante at UFC Vegas 4.

November:

Brendan Allen vs Ian Heinisch has been rebooked for November 7th. The middleweight pair were scheduled to meet at UFC Vegas 4 but the latter was forced out through injury.

Other News:

A lightweight clash between Khama Worthy and Ottman Azaitar has been added to the September 5th card.

Dustin Jacoby and Justin Ledet will face off on October 31st in a light heavyweight contest.

Sarah Moras vs Vanessa Melo set to go down on November 7th in a bantamweight matchup.

Tyron Woodley has posted his contract to fight ‘Cockroach’ Colby Covington on September 19th, which will headline the card at the APEX Center.

Locations:

Many of the upcoming events haven’t been given official locations yet. However, we believe that the promotion will remain in Las Vegas at the APEX until September 19th. It’s looking like the promotion will then head back to Fight Island on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi for around six weeks. It is believed that UFC 253 (Israel Adesanya vs Paulo Costa) will be moved back from September 19th to September 26th and take place on Fight Island. As will UFC 254 (Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje) on October 24th.

Ray Borg

Ray Borg has taken to social media to make a statement about his recent release from the promotion.
